From Pinup to Burlesque
In 2016 I worked in a store selling 50’s inspired interior (will not say the name since I don’t want to market it in any way). A gorgeous human named Malin Björk “discovered“ me in my overly ambitious pinup style and got me to join a Pinup group. That led me to being able to model for the first time in my life, create contacts and get the courage to continue.
Pinup started everything for me. It made me realize that I can actually do what I want to, go after things that I might have found impossible at first. I have had privilege through it all, which I am both thankful and aware of - and I am so happy to have had all these amazing people supporting me from the start. Pinup led me to start doing burlesque, it led me to new friends, new forms of art and a new me.
It all sounds very religious and over the top saying it like this but it is very true in a way. Without me working at the shittiest job, and still living out my pinup-dream through outfits and make-up, and then getting the nudge from Malin in the right direction - my life would have been so so so different.
The Pinup chapter has ended for now, but I still love so much about it. This was a little origin story for you.
